Toasted is the brainchild of two friends who met while working for the indie girl bible for all things rad, BUST Magazine. After working together on numerous events like the BUST Craftacular (one of the very first to put indie craft shows on the map), they eventually both moved on from the magazine, each pursuing separate dreams. Dawn went on to manage catering and events for some of the most popular restaurants in NYC while also lending wedding coordinating support to many a frantic bride. Tara took her hobby of designing wedding invitations for friends and family and turned it into a full-fledged business, launching her own shop of social stationery, Dea + Bean. A few years later, Tara's growing boredom with the traditional wedding show circuit hit an all-time high while planning her own unique barn wedding. She found inspiration on Pinterest and Etsy, but still craved face time with the fresh, indie-minded wedding service providers she knew were out there. That’s when Tara got an idea and called for an immediate brunch date. With Dawn's event planning know-how and Tara's zest for all things creative and crafty, the two realized they could turn traditional wedding planning upside down while keeping it fun and completely affordable for anyone to participate...and Toasted was born.
